Chevy Truckin'

Trucks are the juggernauts of the highway, their cab front and big wheels headline the open road like speeding monsters. The word “truck” comes from the Greek “trochos”, meaning “wheel”. In America, the big wheels of wagons were called trucks. The vehicle is usually used in the transportation of bulk goods and other heavy materials. Replacing the medieval use of horses and carriages, trucks became a vehicle of ultimate utility the very moment it was conceptualized. General Motors, traditionally the world's largest car manufacturer, produced a brand of automobile that will cater to the diverse utility needs of their patrons. The Chevrolet is the top selling GM marque and the best known brand of GM worldwide is the Chevrolet or “Chevy” being at times synonymous with GM. Co-founded by race car driver Louis Chevrolet, the Chevy was built with the intention of establishing a motoring force in the automobile industry. The brand's vehicles ranges from subcompact sedans to medium duty commercial trucks. In a matter of years since its initial entry into the market, the Chevrolet instantaneously became forever embedded in the history of automobiles. Chevrolet recognized the consumer's need of efficient utility in their vehicles. The brand focused, although not entirely, in manufacturing quality trucks that gave their customers high-quality performance. In 1918 the Chevrolet 490 Light Delivery chassis cow was released. This was the first truck model that Chevrolet built and it described a truck of wooden cab and pickup-type body. Its chassis cowl included the chassis with engine, transmission and the front sheet metal which comprised the hood, front fenders, grille and headlights. The Chevy 490 was heavily favored by consumers against its competitors because of the fact that it is more efficient in terms of use and its cost was relatively affordable. In 1929 the truck industry was shook when Chevrolet introduced a truck that will become a standard in measuring truck power. The Chevrolet International Model Series LQ 1 included the first overhead valve six-cylinder engine. The new six-cylinder pickup truck offered more pull with its 46 horsepower cast iron engine and four-speed transmission allowing higher speeds. To this very day, the Chevrolet line of pickups continued the revolutionary design and power that gave the brand countless awards and recognition. The Chevy Silverado is the latest line of full size pickup trucks from GM. With its outstanding heavy duty capabilities, the Silverado was named 2007 North American Truck of Year. Constantly observed by the meticulous eyes of the critics and consumers, the Chevy pickup parts and accessories are the main features why the Chevy trucks are greatly heralded. The Chevrolet Pickup Cab Extender is a fiberglass enclosure that mounts to a pickup's bed rails to provide additional secure storage space. With this device, the spacious cargo area of the pickup is even more enhanced with easy access to the storage space. The Chevrolet Pickup Cargo Net on the other hand is used to secure cargo in the back of the pickup. This particular accessory is greatly approved by law enforcers as in the many states of America requires the cargo net to be installed on pickup when used in long drive deliveries. Chevrolet's 2006 campaign for their line of pickups is tagged as “Our Country, Our Truck”. The brand's intent is to reinstate and remind people of the historic moments of American history, time of suffering and lament, time of devastation and recovery and how the Chevy pickups were used in those moments. It is without a shadow of doubt that the Chevy pickups full performance gave the people the efficiency needed in those times of peril. Over the course of history, the Chevrolet Pickup and its parts and accessories were always exhausted the way their manufacturers want them to be, simply tough and enduring.
