Carpooling to Work

Thursday 31 July 2008 @ 10:02 pm

Thousands more people every month are making the decision to start carpooling with fellow employees to work, especially when they commute to work. Typically people who commute thirty minutes or longer each way should try to make sure that they carpool to work. The environment is becoming more fragile each and everyday and without people doing the right thing, which is protecting it then soon there will terrible consequences. If you value the world and everyone you care about then you should care about the air we all breathe in on a daily basis. If you can help the environment become a safer place by carpooling to work then don’t you think you could make the adjustment to driving with a co-worker to work?

There are now lots of carpool parking lots where you can take your vehicle to and park it for the day while at work and then after work you get dropped off at it and continue home. If enough people started doing this then soon the environment would start becoming a more pleasant place to live. It takes more then a handful of people from different regions to make a difference and everyone needs to unite as one on this situation and try doing something about it.

The government has now begun opening up lanes of most major highways for commuters travelling with more then one passenger in the vehicle. This means if you carpool to work you can use the commuter lane which is basically an express lane that will help you beat rush hour traffic. The time it takes to stop at a carpool parking lot you’ll now start saving by being able to drive in a much less congested lane of the highway. A lot of people only began carpooling because they would then be able to avoid rush hour traffic, and if this is what it takes for people to start helping the environment then so be it. As long as the governments continue adding carpooler lanes onto major highways I feel more and more people will start adapting to carpooling.

Another reason it seems carpooling is becoming more popular is due to the increase in gas prices that everyone is dealing with. A lot of people can’t afford the gas prices that are currently present in most countries and with this a lot of people are forced to carpool. Now although high gas prices aren’t meant to help the environment through more people carpooling, it would as though indirectly it’s been done.

There are lots of reasons why you should be carpooling to work with fellow co-workers and many of them involve you saving time and money so there is really no reason why more people don’t start carpooling. If you save money and time then there isn’t much else that can be offered to entice you to saving the environment, so if this doesn’t do it what will be needed? I hope people can begin to start coming to their senses and start working towards cleaning the environment up.

Getting the Best Deal on Your New Car

Thursday 31 July 2008 @ 9:55 pm

Purchasing a new car is always an exciting experience whether you are looking to buy a used or new one. If you are concerned about price or simply enjoy getting the most bang for your buck, it is important that you understand how to best navigate through the process and get the best deal on your new car. If you don’t know where to begin, don’t worry. We have done all of the hard work for you. We will give you the information that you need to find a great car, for the best price possible.

1. Shop Around: This is probably the most obvious and well known rule. You won’t know your options if you don’t take some time to look around. Thanks to the internet, this is now much easier and more convenient to do then in the past.

It is best to compare car prices and terms of local car dealers. This can be done online and in person. If you are willing to drive a bit, check out what dealers are offering in other cities or states. Another great way to secure a good deal is to get pre-qualified this gives you greater leverage when haggling with car sales persons. They understand that you already have the backing of a lending institution and that you are ready to do business.

2. Buy Used: Unless you just have to have a new car, it often best to purchase a used car. This is because cars depreciate so fast, it doesn’t make great financial sense to buy them new. Instead, you can get great deals for used cars. You can also pay them off faster because they are generally much cheaper.

3. Be Sure That Your Car is Fuel Efficient: A good way to save on your car long term is to get a fuel efficient car. The less money that you have to spend on filling up your tank can go into your pocket.

4. Forget Leasing: Leasing can be incredibly expensive if you go over your pre-determined limit for miles. Some owners of leased cars end up paying $.25 per extra mile. Many people underestimate this and end up paying hefty penalties.

5. Save for a Down Payment: Saving up for a down payment is one way that you can secure greater terms and lower monthly payments for your new car.

With the slowing economy, and a housing market in the dumps, it is more important then ever to find the very best deals possible when looking for a new car. There are several ways to accomplish this. They include buying a used car, avoiding leasing due to potential, expensive penalties that will be levied if you go over mileage. You also need to purchase a fuel efficient car. You will also want to save up for a down payment. Putting a down payment on your car will ensure that you get lower monthly payments and most likely a lower interest rate. Being sure to shop around and comparing rates and terms, will ensure that you get the best deal possible and won’t have buyers regret, soon after your purchase.

Switch to a Hybrid – More Then One Reason

Thursday 31 July 2008 @ 9:41 pm

Hybrids have been very popular the past couple years and lots of people seem to be getting involved with this car industry and are looking at them as there next vehicle. The environmental benefits of using a hybrid are very impressive and in a world where we currently need to work on making the environment a safer place, hybrids seem like a great start. A hybrid vehicle runs on alternative gas so it doesn’t affect the atmosphere with all the pollutants that your typical car makes.

Gas is also continuing to rise in price by quite a bit and in fact it doesn’t appear to anyone including the professionals that the gas price is going to drop any. With this in mind a lot of people are deciding that hybrids are now worth the investment and although the environmentally friendliness of the car should be enough to sway people it wasn’t. The initial investment is a little steep for some people to make but now that gas is on the rise a lot of people are considering switching to a hybrid.

The last benefit that’s being implemented currently to entice people to use hybrids is through the car insurance companies. Most car insurance companies have already begun implementing 10% discounts on car insurance if you drive a hybrid. Now this quite a steep number in most people’s monthly payments so there is now quite a few solid reasons why you should switch to a hybrid.

A lot of the car manufacturers have begun making models of their most popular vehicles in the hybrid form so now your options are beginning to open up. When hybrids first came out there were only small compact cars that nobody wanted except the environmentalists. Now companies like Ford are making their versions of the Escalade in hybrid form. So you can still drive around in your favorite vehicle except now you can help save the environment and also save on gas.

All of these benefits will surely pay off the investment of your hybrid car purchase, as they are only around 20K. If you write down how much you’d save by not paying gas each year and also the 10% insurance discount then you’ll soon realize that within only four to five years you could have the hybrid paid off in full through your savings. If you can manage the initial investment then there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t already have switched to a hybrid and you should definitely consider the savings you would be entitled to if you made the switch. Hybrids will most likely rise a bit in price as they become more mainstream so you should definitely consider getting into a hybrid while the prices are still at their beginning stages. I believe by 2010 a decent part of the American population will be driving hybrids and I also think that the price will be higher. You should get into the market while it’s still not mainstream while the prices remain considerably lower then expected.

Where to Buy a Car

Thursday 31 July 2008 @ 9:34 pm

Buying a car is a fairly big decision and you should have a basic understanding of what you need to know before beginning the car hunt. You will also want to write down what you’re looking for in a car, for instance do you want two doors or four doors? There are a lot of questions that you need to ask yourself before you’re ready to make the purchase but once you have decided on what you want in your car then you can begin searching.

When you begin the hunt for your car you should check both online and offline resources, typically though you’ll find better deals online. There are a lot of websites that are set-up to run car auctions and lots of people participate in these auctions. You can find your dream car by looking through these auction sites and often you’ll pick up a vehicle cheaper then expected. Many motivated sellers seek online auction sites to list their cars and often you’ll get the bang for your buck if you use an auction site.

Offline resources such as auto trader magazines and newspapers can offer great cars for sale as well and so can junkyards. You should spend a weekend driving around your local region and check out all the junkyards for any cars that are there that need minimal work. You’ll get cheap prices at the junkyard but most times you need to put a bit work into getting the car running properly. Auto trader magazines usually are published monthly and list all the cars for sale in the month, again here you can find motivated sellers looking to just to get rid of their vehicles and you can find great bargains here.

If you want a new car then the best place to start your search is the local car dealerships, this will cost a lot more but if you’d like a new car it’s your best bet. You can sometimes bargain a little bit with the dealerships so try your best at reasoning the price down as best you can before confirming a purchase. Act like a hard sale and some dealerships will knock down prices to get your business.

There are tons of places where you can buy a car and depending on what your budget is and whether you want new or used will determine where you start your hunt. It can take a little while to find the right car at the right price so never rush into buying something and you should preferably have the car checked if it’s a used vehicle because sometimes things can be wrong that you wouldn’t spot out without being a professional. Even if you need to pay somebody to come with you and check out the used car before buying it, it would be worth it because most car problems cost quite a bit to fix. You don’t want to deal with having to fix a car after just buying it either which is another reason why you should have it checked out before making the purchase.
